Training

In 1998, Dr Shane Bleakley completed his MBBS (Hons class 2, Division 1) at University of New South Wales.  He then went on to complete his internship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. 

Dr Bleakley completed his junior and senior resident years at St Vincent’s and Bankstown Hospitals, rotating through multiple medical terms.  In 2003, he commenced his basic physician training at St Vincent’s and then his advanced haematology training at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney after passing his part 1 FRACP exams.  A Liverpool Hospital, Shane gained valuable experience in managing aspects of both malignant and non-malignant haematology.

During 2006 to 2008, Dr Bleakley undertook 2 years of laboratory training at the Mater Hospital, Brisbane and was involved in the running of the laboratory.

In 2008, Shane gained transplant experience during his role as Bone Marrow Transplant Registrar at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Dr Bleakley completed his advanced training at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP) and currently works part-time as a pathologist with SNP.
