Dr John Mackintosh

Medical Oncologist

Dr John Mackintosh is a medical oncologist at HOCA’s Mater Medical Centre. He commenced undergraduate training at the University of Queensland (1978) and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1985.

Dr Mackintosh’s experience in oncology includes successful positions at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Mater Adult Hospital, Christie Hospital and Holt Radium Institute Manchester in the United Kingdom and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.

Dr Mackintosh is also interested in teaching both under-graduates and physician trainees with a focus on exposing students to the care of the cancer patient, chemotherapy and effective palliative care. He has held numerous hospital based and community health education positions including Clinical Senior Lecturer University of Queensland; Clinical Instructor for The Prince Charles Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital and Mater Misericordiae Hospital and continues to present lectures on current oncology practices at several institutions.

Dr Mackintosh’s professional memberships and affiliations include:

The research and works of Dr Mackintosh have been published in over 30 journals including the American Journal of Clinical Oncology, British Journal of Urology, Australia and New Zealand Journal of Medicine, The Medical Journal of Australia and Medical and Paediatric Oncology.
