Clinical Haematologist

Training

Dr Herman Lee completed his medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 1999 and completed his internship in 2000 at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He subsequently worked in the Flinders Medical Centre and completed his Basic Physician Training in 2004.

In 2005, Herman started his Joint Clinical and Pathology training in Haematology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and SA Pathology. During this time, he was involved in both clinical and laboratory activities including haemostasis and thrombosis, autologous and allogenic bone marrow transplantation, acute and chronic leukaemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma, thalassaemia and blood transfusion.

After completing his Advanced Haematology training, Herman worked in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a fellow for 2 years specialising in Haemostasis and Thrombosis. He offered both Inpatient and Outpatient care of complex cases of arterial and venous thrombosis as well as bleeding disorders. He was also involved in the clinical trials of thromboprophylaxis, new classes of anticoagulants and advanced coagulation testing.

Currently, Dr Lee is working at Toowoomba Base Hospital as a clinical and laboratory Haematology Specialist.

Apart from clinical works, Herman also plays an active role in both teaching and research. He was a lecturer and an examiner at the University of Adelaide. He was also involved in many haematology research projects especially in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis.
