Dr Geoffrey Beadle

Medical Oncologist

Dr Beadle is a medical oncologist based at the Wesley Medical Centre in Auchenflower, Queensland. He is a medical graduate of the University of Queensland (1972) and commenced internship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 1973. He moved to Melbourne in 1975 and was based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter McCallum Cancer Institute where he undertook Post-Graduate training in medical oncology and radiation oncology.

He subsequently moved to the United States where he worked as a Radiation Oncologist at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy, Harvard Medical School, Boston. On his return to Brisbane he worked at the Queensland Radium Institute between 1984 and 1987 before moving into private practice at the Wesley Medical Centre. He has been a visiting Medical Oncologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (1988 - 1995) and has been a Visiting Medical Oncologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital since 2004. Dr Beadle has also held the position of Medical Co-ordinator - Oncology, Therapeutics Development Unit at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and is currently a Visiting Scientist at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research as Head of the Translational Research Laboratory.

Dr Beadle has also held many committee appointments such as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Wesley Hospital; Chairman of the Queensland Cooperative Oncology Group, Cancer Council Queensland; Secretary/Treasurer of the Australian Society of Breast Diseases; Member of the National Research Grants Projects, the Cancer Council of Australia. Dr Beadle has on-going research projects, with a focus on breast cancer survival, and holds nationally awarded grants in breast cancer research.
