Chris commenced her career as a nurse at Mt Isa Base Hospital where she completed general nursing training. As a young nurse, Chris worked in many areas of patient care, surgical, medical, operating room, intensive care and emergency care.

Chris traveled overseas and worked in the UK where she developed an interest in Paediatric Cardiac care at the Hayley Street Clinic, London. After her return to Australia she completed Paediatric nursing qualifications at Camperdown Children's Hospital, Sydney. Chris then completed Midwifery training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.

Chris and her family moved to the Gold Coast 20 years ago and her career, whilst raising children, was predominantly in Obstetric nursing. During this time she completed nurse qualifications in Newborn Intensive Care at Mater Mothers Hospital, Brisbane.

A management focus gradually developed with the tertiary studies. Chris held a position of Nurse Unit Manager of the Maternity Unit at Allamanda Private Hospital, Southport following the completion of a Health Science degree with the University of Central Queensland. From 1997-2007, Chris held the position of Director of Nursing at Allamanda Private Hospital, Southport.  During this time the hospital had 5 owners. Change management has been a constant aspect of her career in health management and leadership over the past 12 years. Chris has a particular interest is developing nurses understanding of business aspects of their every day contribution to patient care.

Since September 2008, Chris as worked with the HOCA team commissioning HOCA Gold Coast and establishing a new health service on the Gold Coast. Chris now enjoys working with a solid team of nurses, administration staff and medical practitioners that professionally care for patients with oncology and haematological conditions in a state-of-the-art facility.
