Janet Moore

Janet Moore commenced employment with HOCARC in April 2011 as General Manager specifically responsible for Research.

Janet has a BSc (Nursing) from the QLD University of Technology and has worked as a registered nurse for the past 16 years.

In that time, she has gained considerable experience in a number of clinical disciplines, in particular gynae/oncology, accident and emergency and oncology research (specialising in phase 1 clinical research/ experimental research)

After a number of years working in Brisbane, Janet relocated to the UK with her husband and children to gain experience on an international level. Working initially in London and then relocating to Cambridge, for 5 years Janet took up her role as Senior Research Nurse/Research Manager for the Early Phase Oncology Clinical Trials Team for the University of Cambridge. Working closely with the Professor of Cancer Therapeutics, Janet managed a multidisciplinary team in delivering quality clinical research in experimental and novel targeted oncology treatments.

Being in charge of the Early Phase team, Janet was responsible for providing education and access for all patients in the East of England region (approx 1.6 million patients in the catchment area). As part of the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre group, Janet travelled extensively to showcase the wonderful work being carried out in Cambridge.

Whilst in the UK, Janet has strived to contribute as much as possible to Cancer research, even running the London marathon in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Her relocation back to Brisbane at the beginning of 2011 was a chance for Janet to consolidate her experience gained from the international research arena, joining the HOCA research centre as its General Manager in April.

Taking on this role has provided Janet with a wonderful opportunity to continue the great work and dedicated efforts of the clinical research team here at HOCA, and establish the HOCA Research Centre as the preferred centre to conduct clinical research in Australia.

A busy mother of 3, Janet has learnt to juggle the busy workloads of family life and work.

Janet has always strived to uphold her personal values of respect and integrity in all that she does, including being dedicated to attracting clinical research that provides patients with the opportunities to access the latest in cancer treatments.
