Catherine - Registered Nurse, HOCA Chermside

'Making the change from public healthcare to private healthcare has been a real positive for my career.

While I was learning all the while in the public system, I have really benefited from the personalised attention that I receive from HOCA. I work with dynamic and experienced colleagues and the environment that we practice in is supportive, flexible and personal. I feel that I'm contributing in a positive and valued way to cancer care.

I had little experience in this area of nursing before joining HOCA, and found that completing the 'Novice-to-Expert' program (accredited by QUT) gave me the skills and confidence required to practice as part of a specialised team. I'm now considering a long-term career as a cancer-care nurse, and the opportunities that HOCA offers for ongoing professional development and career advancement make staying within the organisation very attractive.

It's a busy and challenging workload, but I'm rewarded for the work that I do in so many ways. That's what makes nursing here so enjoyable.'

Exceptional treatment and support. A caring and compassionate culture.

That is what patients find at HOCA (Haematology and Oncology Clinics of Australia) – the leaders in cancer care. Across our network of four cancer care centres in South-East Queensland, the values of integrity, courage, teamwork and compassion are central to our patient-focused approach to cancer care.
